Beginner Sewing - Home Makes

Come along and learn how to make a fabulous doorstop, pegbag, apron or personalised bunting - perfect to keep or for a fabulous personalised gift! Bring your own fabric and we will provide the rest.

Perfect for beginners and those wanting to brush up on their skills.

Our workshops start at 9:30 and finish by 1:30 and are held in our gorgeous garden sewing room in Tunbridge Wells.  There is a maximum of four on each workshop so they are small, friendly, fun and you get your project finished with lots of support. 

In this workshop you will learn: -

• The parts of the Sewing Machine and what they do
• How to thread a Sewing Machine
• The bobbin – how to thread and fill
• How to practice speed control
• And lots of tips

Your Project - Door Stop, Apron (Child's or Adults), Peg Bag or Bunting

• How to cut and measure fabric – simple pattern making 
• Seams and how to finish to prevent fraying 
• How to easily personalise your project (Apron's and Door Stops can be personalised too)
• Lots of tips on how to finish your project

You will also get a workbook full of tips and instructions on how to make your project again!

Fabric guidelines: -  You will need cotton/heavy weight cotton.  I will email you details of how much fabric you will need to bring.

We use Janome sewing machines in our workshops but if you have your own sewing machine and want to use it then please do bring yours.
